We offer small-group visit days to our Kindergarten, consultation and training days to other settings keen to develop their outdoor pedagogy.
Lucy Owen-Collins is the Owner and Director of Bee in the Woods. Lucy is an Early Years Teacher with MA Early Years Education, Forest & Beach School Facilitator, Trainer, SENCO, EYT Mentor and DfE Covid Recovery Expert Consultant.
Having worked in Environmental Education for over 20 years, Lucy has seen first-hand how engagement with the natural world nurtures wellbeing, curiosity and development, and she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience to encourage more Early Years outdoors. Lucy offers expert consultancy services for early years providers, childminders and forest school leaders, and support with the development of the learning environment, observing and improving practice, reviewing leadership and management practices, and setting up a Forest School.
Consultation starts with an initial discussion, where Lucy will spend time gathering information from you to find out how you want to develop your practice. She can then spend one, two or more days in your setting observing practice and giving practical advice on how to develop plans, implement training and shift culture. The consultation includes a full written report and action plan for your setting. This can be followed up later if you wish to create an ongoing consultancy relationship.
We also offer group in-house development days at your setting. Lucy brings tons of inspiration and ideas to make the most of your outdoor spaces.
A full day's group training features group work and hands on activities to inspire and motivate your team.
Visit days to our setting are a chance for small groups to see our completely Outdoor Kindergarten in person.
Half-day Visits are held on weekdays with staff and children present and include tours of the Kindergarten, a presentation and discussion time to explore our Froebelian pedagogy and any questions and/or reflections. Forest School refreshments will be on offer.
