Want to work with Bee in the Woods?

Bee in the Woods Forest Kindergarten is a magical outdoor childcare setting based on the outskirts of Brighton. Our two beautiful woodland bases provide 3-8 year old's with a unique early years experience in a child-led and play-based environment. We value nature as our teacher and learn through play amongst the trees or on visits to the local beach.

We are always looking for passionate and committed team mates to join us in the creation and delivery of our two settings.

We employ people with a zest for life, a love of the outdoors and a passion for the importance of kids playing outside. We are a close and supportive team and are immensely proud of what we do and of our Outstanding Kindergarten.

We also believe in the power of nature for bringing families and communities together. We work with families and organisations within our community to reduce loneliness and boost happiness and health through time together in nature.

Volunteers/Placements

We are influenced by the philosophies of Froebel, Reggio Emilia, Te Whakiri and Scandinavian Forest Schools to harness the natural environment, community and the power of play.  We co-construct our curriculum on a much bigger, wilder, more democratic and more adventurous scale. We believe in listening to children and giving them the time and freedom they need and deserve to explore and express themselves. We trust in children's sense of curiosity and capability to construct their own knowledge and contribute to their community. We aim to create a nurturing, safe and caring community which fosters a strong sense of belonging and self worth.Wellbeing is vital to our setting and through taking care of our staff, our families and our children's wellbeing, we aim to build a resilient and supportive community with deep connections to each other and to the natural world.

Volunteers - We have opportunities for volunteers; including woodland management & conservation, and Forest School assistants.

Placements - We can take up to one placement/2 volunteers per term. We ask for a 6-week minimum commitment.  If you would like to enquire about a placement in 2024, please contact us here.
